Gangtok, 13th April: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang has expressed strong support for the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, lauding it as a historic and transformative step towards empowering women across India. Speaking on behalf of the Government and people of Sikkim, Tamang conveyed deep appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for spearheading the landmark legislation aimed at enhancing women’s representation in legislative bodies.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the special discussion in Parliament scheduled to begin on April 16 represents a defining moment in India’s democratic journey. He noted that the initiative reflects a collective commitment to inclusive governance and equitable participation, ensuring that women have a stronger voice in decision-making processes at all levels.
Emphasizing the critical role of women in national development, Tamang said India is witnessing remarkable achievements by women across sectors including science, sports, governance, and entrepreneurship. He described the unanimous support for the Act in 2023 as a rare example of political consensus, underlining the nation’s shared vision of building a more inclusive and progressive society.
