BJP Expels Bindya Cintury Ahead of ULB Elections 2026 in Sikkim Over Anti-Party Activities

Gangtok, 13th April: Ahead of the ongoing Urban Local Body (ULB) Elections 2026, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sikkim unit has expelled party member Bindya Cintury for alleged anti-party activities. Cintury, who had filed her nomination as an independent candidate from the DPH ward under Gangtok Municipal Corporation, faced disciplinary action amid intensified political developments in the run-up to the municipal polls.

The expulsion was confirmed by BJP leader Arjun Rai during a press conference on Monday. He stated that the decision was taken after reviewing Cintury’s actions, which were deemed to be against the party’s interests and directives.

The BJP is contesting the elections in alliance with the ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM). The party has fielded Srijana Chettri as its official candidate from the DPH ward. Notably, this remains the only ward witnessing a contest, as all other seats across the state, in municipal corporation, municipal council, and nagar panchayats, have been declared uncontested in favour of SKM and BJP candidates.
