Gangtok, 21st September: Rikzing Norbu Dorjee Bhutia has resigned from the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), ending both his primary membership and all party responsibilities.
In his resignation letter to the party president, Bhutia said he was stepping down from the posts of Vice President, Spokesperson, Student Front Incharge for Pakyong, Gangtok and Mangan districts, and Youth Incharge of Headquarters and North District.
He said the decision came after months of introspection. Bhutia explained that he joined SDF with the intention of serving the people, raising the voice of the youth, and standing for justice and democracy. “I fought, I spoke and I stood firm even when the path was not easy. For this journey, I shall forever remain grateful to the party and its leadership for the platform and trust given to me,” he wrote.
Bhutia added that the political situation in Sikkim is changing and society now needs stronger voices, new ideas, and courage. “I believe my role now lies in a different direction, where I can contribute more effectively and meaningfully for my people,” he said.
Wishing the SDF president on his upcoming birthday, Bhutia prayed for his good health and long life. He clarified that his resignation is not an end but a new beginning. “My commitment remains the same: to serve my Sikkim, to speak for my people and to dedicate every breath to a brighter tomorrow,” he concluded.
