Gangtok, 9th October: Sikkim’s Under-19 men’s team started their Vinoo Mankad Trophy campaign with a three-wicket win against Meghalaya in Chandigarh on Thursday.
After winning the toss, Sikkim opted to bowl first and bowled out Meghalaya for 99 runs. Leg-spinner Parvin Kuikel took 4 wickets for 14 runs in 10 overs, while Inzamamul claimed 3 for 14. In reply, Sikkim recovered from early setbacks as Adnan Alam scored 27 runs and shared a 41-run fifth-wicket stand with Arihanta Sachdeva to guide the team to victory.
In another match, Sikkim’s senior women’s team secured their first win in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy after defeating Mizoram by 15 runs (VJD method) at MBB Stadium, Agartala. Pranita Chettri took two wickets for three runs in 1.3 overs and was named Player of the Match.
