Sikkim CM Prem Singh Tamang Attends Ziro Music Festival, Strengthening Ties with Arunachal Pradesh

Ziro Valley, 27th September (IPR): On the third day of the ongoing Ziro Festival of Music, Chief Minister of Sikkim Prem Singh Tamang made an official visit to the outdoor indie music fest, in the scenic Ziro Valley of Arunachal Pradesh, today alongside Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Pema Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Chowna Mein.

The celebration marked a historic moment as Sikkim partners for the first time as a state partner with the Ziro Music Festival, promoting cultural exchange and strengthening bonds with Arunachal Pradesh.

During an interaction, Chief Minister of Sikkim warmly congratulated Arunachal Pradesh on its successful Ziro Festival of Music, praising its unique and innovative approach. Noting the cultural and geographical similarities between Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh, he proposed an exchange programme between the two states, emphasising the importance of promoting domestic tourism and relationship between the two states.

He encouraged the 200+ Sikkimese delegates to learn from the festival’s distinctive aspects, highlighting the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative. Expressing admiration for the festival, he wished for many more successful editions for years to come.

Speaking about World Tourism Day, the Chief Minister advocated for North Eastern states, including Sikkim, to collaborate and support each other as tourism stakeholders.

The delegation explored the exhibition stalls showcasing Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim’s local products, including food stalls run by Self-Help Groups and entrepreneurs from both states. They engaged with vendors, learning about unique offerings and products.

The delegation also admired art installations, interacted with workshop mentors, and enjoyed a musical performance while mingling with the public.

In a symbolic gesture of goodwill and friendship, Chief Ministers Prem Singh Tamang and Pema Khandu exchanged flowers and mementos.

The delegation from Sikkim included Chief Minister, Commerce & Industries Department and Tourism & Civil Aviation Department Tshering Thendup Bhutia, Advisor Power Department Sanjeet Kharel, Additional Chief Secretary Tourism and Civil Aviation Department CS Rao, Chairperson of the Tourism and Civil Aviation Department Sonam Norgay Lachungpa, Secretary Information & Public Relations Department, Annapurna Alley, Press Secretary to Chief Minister Yougan Tamang, OSD to Chief Minister Rewaj Chettri, Director MSME, Commerce & Industries Department Ravi Kumar, Director Directorate of Handicrafts and Handloom TT Bhutia, Managing Director Sikkim Supreme Chanda Rani, Managing Director Temi Tea Radha Pradhan, along with officials from the line departments of Government of Sikkim.
